Drinking water before a meal WILL help you lose weight. It is actually quite a simple reasoning. If you drink water right before a meal, your stomach is filled with water to a certain extent. Meaning that when you have your meal, you will only be able to fill up the part that is unoccupied by water.

 

By this same logic, If you consume water along with your meal, you will maintain weight and if you consume it after, you are likely to put on weight as compared to the other two. It is also very important to know how overweight/underweight you are. You can do this by understanding your prakriti as per the levels of your doshas. If you are more of a vata prakriti individual, your natural state would be on the thinner side. This is normal and doesn’t mean you are malnourished or underweight.
